GLACIER TOURS

LeConte Glacier & Petersburg

Stikine River & Shakes Glacier

Stikine River & Shakes Glacier

Seals on ice berg in LeConte Bay

This is a stunning seven hour tour which includes a lunch stop in the nearby town of Petersburg, or 'Little Norway'. As we pass by beaches and islands along our way we might see eagles, deer, and bear. The glacier itself towers above the water and is very active, which means chunks of ice often calve off the face to make a thunderous splash. Seals rest on the ice bergs surrounded by glacier-carved cliffs. (If the tides allow it, this tour can be run as a four hour trip straight to the glacier and back with no stop in Petersburg.)

Bald Eagles on a tree stump in the Stikine River delta

Join us on a four or so hour jet boat trip up the Stikine River, following in the footsteps of many historical explorers, including John Muir, who called the Stikine "a Yosemite a hundred miles long." As we wind through the river channels, we might see wildlife such as eagles, moose, bear, porcupine, beaver, and more. Before returning to Wrangell, we'll spend time exploring Shakes Lake, where a beautiful, slow moving glacier winds down from the mountains into the water.
