While it's true you can't get here by driving from Anchorage (OK, technically you can, but it's over 800 miles), Wrangell is served by several extremely efficient transportation options:

Alaska Marine Highways System: Coming from the Lower 48, the best places to catch the ferry are Bellingham, WA and (if you'd like to save some money and have a little driving adventure) Prince Rupert, BC.

Alaska Airlines: Several jets arrive and depart Wrangell every day.

In addition, cruise ships call at Wrangell, and air- and water taxi services are available as well.
